MBO-studenten onder de indruk van Philips tijdens Dutch Technology Week

Philips biedt MBO-studenten met de ‘MBO on Tech Tour’ een uniek kijkje in de innovatie- en productiekeuken van het Philips Innovation Center Eindhoven tijdens Dutch Technology Week. MBO-studenten van het Summa College Eindhoven kregen in het kader hiervan een rondleiding door de fabriek van Refurbished Systems bij Philips in Best.

De studenten zagen met eigen ogen hoe gebruikte medische beeldvormingssystemen volledig worden gereviseerd en geüpgrade naar de huidige standaard om vervolgens weer te worden aangeboden tegen een aantrekkelijke prijs. Philips vergroot hiermee de toegankelijkheid tot geavanceerde medische technologie. Refurbished Systems maakt deel uit van de duurzaamheidsstrategie van Philips en draagt bij tot een meer circulaire economie.

Techniekstimulering

De leerlingen waren onder de indruk van de fabriek. “Ik had eigenlijk geen idee dat Philips medische systemen terugneemt en weer opknapt, maar het is super interessant om te zien hoe dat gaat”, aldus een van hen. De rondleiding was onderdeel van Dutch Technology Week en het techniekstimuleringsprogramma van Philips. Het doel hiervan is om meer jongeren kennis te laten maken met techniek en hen te stimuleren om een carrière in de techniek te kiezen.

De maakindustrie is van groot belang voor de Brainport regio en met deze tour willen we laten zien dat techniek een onmiskenbare bijdrage levert aan de samenleving. In het geval van Philips is dat om in 2030 het leven van drie miljard mensen wereldwijd te verbeteren met behulp van medische technologie.”

With the 'MBO on Tech Tour', Philips offers MBO students a unique insight into the innovation and production site of the Philips Innovation Center Eindhoven during Dutch Technology Week. MBO students from Summa College Eindhoven were given a guided tour of the Refurbished Systems factory at Philips in Best.

The students saw with their own eyes how used medical systems are completely overhauled and upgraded to the current standard and then brought back to market at an attractive price. Philips is thus increasing access to advanced medical technology. Refurbished Systems is part of Philips' sustainability strategy and contributes to a more circular economy.

Technology stimulation

The students were impressed by the factory. "I had no idea that Philips takes back and refurbishes medical systems, but it's super interesting to see how that works", one of them said. The tour was part of Dutch Technology Week and the Philips Technology Stimulation Program. The aim is to introduce more young people to technology and to encourage them to choose a career in technology.
