Eindhovens Dagblad neemt voorproefje op open dag bij ‘de parel van Philips’ tijdens Dutch Technology Week

Tijdens Dutch Technology Week (DTW), van 20 tot en met 25 mei 2019, zetten veel bedrijven op zaterdag 25 mei de deuren open. Ook het Philips Innovation Center Eindhoven opent de poort van de campus in Best. Het Eindhovens Dagblad kwam vast langs voor een voorproefje.

Journalist Bart-Jan de Rooij gaat in het artikel in vogelvlucht het hele terrein over, dat hij ‘de parel van Philips’ noemt. “Het is onbetwist een van de belangrijkste fabrieken van het bedrijf wereldwijd. Zo niet de belangrijkste. Hier draait het om röntgen, MRI en allerhande medische systemen.”

Naadloze zorg

Maar niet alleen de fabrieken komen in zijn verhaal aan bod. Hij vertelt ook over het recent geopende Customer Experience Center, de plek waar Philips klanten ontvangt. Hier draait het om één familie. De Rooij: “Ieder belandt om een andere reden in de medische molen. Bezoekers zien de hele trajecten, vanuit de patiënt maar ook vanuit de arts. Ze zien hoe slimme software zorgt voor naadloze zorg, snellere diagnoses en daardoor een snelle behandeling.”

Gemakkelijke schoenen

Tot slot neemt De Rooij ook nog een kijkje buiten de gebouwen, in het duurzame groene hart van de campus. Hier houden Kempische heideschapen het gras kort, fladderen zeventien vlindersoorten rond en vinden vleermuizen een goed heenkomen in hun eigen kelder. Een belangrijke tip voor bezoekers heeft hij ook: “Trek gemakkelijke schoenen aan, ook al rijdt er een elektrische shuttlebus rond. Het Philips-complex beslaat een slordige 80 voetbalvelden.”

Praktische informatie

De open dag, van 11.00 tot 17.00, is vrij toegankelijk voor iedereen. Er is parkeerplek op het terrein, maar voor bezoekers die graag met het OV komen, rijdt er tussen 11.00 en 17.00 uur een gratis pendelbus tussen station Best en de locatie van de open dag: Veenpluis 6.

Wat is er te zien en te doen?

Tijdens de open dag zijn er verschillende demo’s en productinnovaties te zien. Daarbij gaat het niet alleen om oplossingen binnen de gezondheidszorg, maar ook om innovaties die bijdragen aan een gezond leven. Voor de jeugd is er een leuk en uitdagend programma met verschillende workshops en activiteiten (o.a van Mad Science) waarin jongeren actief kennis kunnen maken met de boeiende wereld van ontdekkingen en innovaties. Daarnaast bieden de fabrieken en het Customer Experience Center een kijkje in de ‘innovatiekeuken’.

But it's not just the factories that are mentioned in his story. De Rooij: "Everyone ends up with medial issues for different reasons. Visitors can see the entire process, from the patient's point of view but also from the doctor's point of view. They see how smart software ensures seamless care, faster diagnoses and therefore fast treatment."

Easy shoes

Finally, De Rooij also takes a look outside the buildings, in the sustainable green heart of the campus. Here, sheep keep the grass short, seventeen species of butterflies flutter around and bats find a good hideaway. The journalist also has an important tip for visitors: "Put on comfortable shoes, even though there is an electric shuttle bus. The Philips complex covers about 80 football pitches."

Practical information

The open day, from 11.00 until 17.00 hrs, is open to everyone. There is parking space on the campus in Best (Veenpluis 6), but for visitors who travel by public transport, between 11.00 and 17.00 hours there is a free shuttle bus between Best train station and the campus.

What is there to see and do?

During the open day, there are several demos and product innovations to see. The company will not only show the solutions within the healthcare sector, but also show innovations that contribute to a healthy life. And for the youth there is a fun and challenging program with various workshops and activities (including Mad Science) in which young people can actively get acquainted with the fascinating world of discoveries and innovations. In addition, the factories and the Customer Experience Center offer a glimpse into our 'innovation kitchen'.
