"During the Open Day, you can experience the success of the Dutch high-tech industry at first hand. Not only technology for the sake of technology, but also as a means of improving people's lives and health," says Hans de Jong, President of Philips Netherlands. "The aim is to create awareness of and interest in the importance of the technical sector and thus to inspire children, and their parents, to follow a technical education".
Activities during Open Day High Tech Campus
During the Open Day of Philips on the High Tech Campus you can participate in a wide range of activities. An overview is given below.
Today you will be able to see for yourself how we are using this to shape the future of healthcare – for example at the lung cancer screening demo, where we use very advanced adaptive intelligence to help interpret medical images. Along the demo route you will also be able to see how we prepare children for an MRI scan, which many youngsters often find very stressful. It is, therefore, especially important for the children – and for their parents – that they are well prepared. You can now experience for yourself how we make this a less daunting and more comfortable experience for them.
Virtual & augmented reality
Step into the wondrous world of virtual and augmented reality! At Philips we use VR and AR for a variety of purposes, for example as a ‘tool’ for producing medical devices and for fitting out hospitals, but also to mimic reality in various situations, such as during an MRI scan. During this open day you will have a chance to look at a hospital through virtual reality glasses. You will also be able to watch a demo about the digital twin, as we give you a glimpse into the future of personalized healthcare.
The crucial challenge for an oncologist is to remove a tumor completely and to treat all of the tumor-feeding blood vessels without damaging any healthy tissue or organs. Philips’ ground-breaking new visualizations are leading the way in this field. On the demo route we will show you a number of examples, including our digital pathology application as well as solutions that help doctors to make a diagnosis and to treat prostate cancer.
Be sure to have a go at the Cardiovascular Quiz on the demo route to test your knowledge of the heart and the vascular system, and this will also give you a good idea of some of the solutions we supply.
Philips is helping to develop new solutions that can successfully treat people with disrupted sleep patterns. The tour through our buildings will also take you to the SmartSleep demo, for example. SmartSleep is the first clinically proven mobile solution that helps people to get a better night’s sleep.
A healthy diet is one of the key elements in a healthy lifestyle. Philips offers a wide range of products that make a healthy diet easy and delicious. Our chef will be demonstrating how easy it is to use a number of these products – including the Airfryer – and showing you everything they can do. Come along and have a look and a taste!
A healthy lifestyle also means looking after your mental health. Vital@Home, one of the solutions we will be showing you, supports patients with Parkinson’s disease and their medical practitioners: the mobile sensors in this application monitor constantly the condition of the individual patient, making it easier for a medical practitioner to deliver personalized care.
