On the premises of Gerard and Anton's very first light bulb factory, the "stars," "bangers" and "peak" of the Gerard & Anton High Tech Peak Awards were presented on Jan. 11 to people who have stood out within the Eindhoven high tech world in the past year. The grand winner was Brigit van Dijk of the Brabant Development Company.
Before the awards were handed out, Olga Coolen, director of Philips Museum explained why it is so wonderful and appropriate that this award ceremony takes place at the site of Philips' very first light bulb factory: "In the 19th century, Gerard and Anton started Philips & Co. which was nicknamed The Lamp. From this company, so to speak, our region grew and emerged. So you could say, without Gerard and Anton there would be no Brainport region, but without you there would be nothing to come. Because just as they stood at the cradle of Brainport, you stand at the cradle of the next.... the continuity and future of our region. Which we will look back on a few generations from now."
Beatrix Bos and Bert-Jan Woertman together with jury chairman Stijn Steenbakkers handed out the prizes to 9 winners.
Stars 2023
Four people are put in the spotlight for their contribution to the high tech and startup scene in and around Eindhoven in the past year.|
Bangers 2024
Four people from whom much can be expected for the coming year.
Peak 2023
One person has made a structural contribution to the Eindhoven ecosystem year after year - and hopefully will continue to do so - that they deserve a lifetime award.
Day in and day out, these winners work with companies, governments and knowledge institutions in our region to ensure the success of the high-tech ecosystem. "This is a position we should cherish," Alderman Stijn Steenbakkers emphasized at last year's awards ceremony. "The Awards not only appreciate the driving forces and new talents, but also serve as recognition and incentive to keep believing, swimming against the tide and strengthening the strength of our unique high-tech ecosystem."
