What steps do you go through as a designer, from initial idea to final product? And how do you put the end user at the center of everything you do? The exhibition 'There's only make' at the Philips Museum during Dutch Design Week 2024 gives visitors the unique opportunity to experience Philips' design process up close.
'There's only make' shows how design is shaping the future, responding to user needs with innovative solutions. The exhibition offers an exclusive look behind the scenes for anyone who wants to experience how Philips develops products and services.
As a visitor, you will have access to the designer's studio, where you can see how a first sketch is created and what steps are required to create a prototype. You will follow the transformation from the initial research, through the development of innovative ideas to finally the delivery of life-enhancing products, in line with the theme of this year's Dutch Design Week: 'Real, unreal'.
The temporary exhibition is structured around the most important phases of Philips' design process. Visitors discover what happens in the research phase, which focuses on empathizing with users' needs. In the concept phase, visitors can experience how creativity can push the boundaries of innovation. The next step in the design process, the development phase, revolves primarily around specialist craftsmanship. In the final phase, completed designs are displayed.
