"Tegen de achtergrond van de aanhoudende COVID-19 pandemie, bleven we zorgverleners en medisch personeel ondersteunen bij het verlenen van zowel acute COVID-19 zorg als reguliere gezondheidszorg. In het kwartaal ging Philips 25 nieuwe strategische samenwerkingsverbanden aan met ziekenhuizen in de VS, Europa en Azië, om hen te helpen hun klinische en operationele doelen te bereiken met onze geïntegreerde oplossingen. We ondersteunden ook consumenten thuis met telezorgoplossingen zoals teletandheelkunde en bewaking op afstand.
Ik ben verheugd dat we, als gevolg van deze inspanningen, in het kwartaal een vergelijkbare omzetgroei van 7% voor de Groep en een vergelijkbare groei van de orderontvangst van 7% hebben gerealiseerd. De gecorrigeerde EBITA-marge verbeterde met 110 basispunten en we behaalden een sterke vrije kasstroom van EUR 1.055 miljoen.
We hebben dit kwartaal verschillende nieuwe producten en oplossingen gelanceerd, waaronder de Philips Shaver Series 1000 die specifiek gericht is op de persoonlijke verzorgingsbehoeften van jonge mannen in China. We hebben ook onze volgende generatie IntelliSpace Portal-werkruimte voor geavanceerde visualisatie geïntroduceerd met AI-mogelijkheden ter ondersteuning van een nauwkeurige diagnose. Om onze Connected Care-oplossingen uit te breiden, hebben we overeenkomsten getekend om BioTelemetry en Capsule Technologies over te nemen. Deze acquisities zullen de oplossingen van Philips voor patiëntzorgbeheer voor het ziekenhuis en thuis verder verbreden en opschalen om de resultaten voor de patiënt te verbeteren, klinische workflows te stroomlijnen en de productiviteit te verhogen. Als gevolg van onze sterkere resultaten in de tweede helft van het jaar, na een uitdagende eerste helft als gevolg van de impact van COVID-19, waren onze prestaties veerkrachtig. Voor het volledige jaar 2020 realiseerden we 3% vergelijkbare omzetgroei, een gecorrigeerde EBITA-marge van 13,2% en een sterke vrije kasstroom van EUR 1,9 miljard. Bovendien, gedreven door een vergelijkbare groei van de orderontvangst van 9%, bleven we marktaandeel winnen in onze gezondheidszorgactiviteiten en sloten we het jaar af met een sterk orderboek.
Ik ben erg dankbaar en trots op de toewijding, vindingrijkheid en het harde werk van onze meer dan 80.000 medewerkers in 2020. Door onze inspanningen konden we onze drievoudige zorgplicht nakomen - het beantwoorden van kritieke behoeften bij onze klanten, het zekerstellen van de veiligheid en gezondheid van onze medewerkers en het borgen van de bedrijfscontinuïteit.
Vooruitkijkend blijven we onzekerheid zien met betrekking tot de impact van COVID-19 over de hele wereld. Voor 2021 is Philips van plan om een lage eencijferige vergelijkbare omzetgroei te realiseren, aangedreven door solide groei in Diagnosis & Treatment en Personal Health, deels tenietgedaan door een lagere Connected Care-omzet, en een verbetering van de gecorrigeerde EBITA-marge van 60-80 basispunten."
Business segment performance
The Diagnosis & Treatment businesses returned to growth, with 1% comparable sales growth in the quarter, driven by high-single-digit growth in Diagnostic Imaging. Comparable order intake showed a 3% increase, compared to a 5% decrease in the previous quarter. The Adjusted EBITA margin decreased to 14.0%, mainly due to mix changes. For the full year, the Diagnosis & Treatment businesses recorded a 2% comparable sales decrease and an Adjusted EBITA margin of 10.0%.
Comparable sales in the Connected Care businesses increased 24% in the quarter, with double-digit growth in Monitoring & Analytics and Sleep & Respiratory Care. Comparable order intake showed a 17% increase, with strong growth across all businesses. The Adjusted EBITA margin increased to 27.2%, due to operating leverage and productivity programs. For the full year, the Connected Care businesses delivered 22% comparable sales growth and an Adjusted EBITA margin of 21.5%.
The Personal Health businesses delivered a comparable sales increase of 5% in the quarter, with double-digit growth in Domestic Appliances and mid-single-digit growth in Personal Care. The Adjusted EBITA margin was 20.0%, in line with Q4 2019. For the full year, the Personal Health businesses recorded a 4% comparable sales decline and an Adjusted EBITA margin of 13.0%.
Philips’ ongoing focus on innovation and partnerships resulted in the following key developments in the quarter and the year:
Cost savings In the fourth quarter of 2020, cost savings totaled EUR 123 million, with procurement savings of EUR 67 million and savings from overhead and other productivity programs of EUR 56 million, resulting in annual savings of EUR 447 million in 2020. As a result, Philips has delivered EUR 1.9 billion productivity savings for the Group over the 2017-2020 period, exceeding the target of EUR 1.8 billion.

Effective Q1 2020, Philips has simplified its order intake policy by aligning horizons for all modalities to 18 months to revenue, compared to previously used delivery horizons of 6 months for Ultrasound, 12 months for Connected Care and 15 months for Diagnosis & Treatment.
