The Philips Museum equaled its record number of visitors in 2025. With over 95,000 visitors, the museum achieved its highest number since its foundation in its 12.5-year anniversary. Looking to the future
The museum on the Emmasingel has had a remarkable year. For the first time in its history, there was a change of director. Olga Coolen, who had been at the helm since the very beginning, handed over the reins to Freek Janssen.
"It's wonderful that so many people found their way to the museum this year," saysdirector Freek Janssen. "This shows that we have a well-oiled machine witha great team of employees and volunteers. And that we have been able to inspire many people from home and abroad with stories about innovation, design, and social engagement."
New exhibition
The past year was also marked by the opening of Impact through Design, anexhibition about 100 years of design at Philips. During Dutch Design Week, this exhibition contributed to a record month. Never before had there beenso many visitors to the museum in a single month as in October 2025. Janssen:"Our museum also has an appeal during international events. This year, we were also able to offer extra depth by bringing Philips designers into contact with visitors to share stories behind.”
Children's events also contributed significantly to the total number of visitors. The Museum Kids Factory technical craft workshop is almost always sold out. Special events such as the Science Weekend, Mad Science, and Health Lab also ensured full museum halls. Janssen: “The importance of science and healthcare for the next generation is very important to us. That will be no different in 2026, when we already have a major event on the calendar in January with Health Lab 2026. The visitor numbers for 2025 give us more than enough motivation to maintain that upward trend in 2026.”
