Lars Steven, recently graduated from Delft Technical University in the field of Technology, Policy and Management, was particularly gripped by the interactive co-creation workshop. At the workshop, small groups supervised by Philips Design worked on solutions for obese patients who have undergone bariatric surgery (such as a gastric balloon). Lars Stevens: "The question was how, after leaving the hospital, they can also be properly supported at home in modifying their lifestyle. To do so, we really had to make a connection between the healthcare provider, technology and the care recipient."
At the end of the day, the teams got together to present their solutions to one another. For instance, one team thought up the idea of connecting home appliances, such as smart refrigerators and scales, allowing a dietician to properly monitor weight-related behavior and address this with the client in a timely manner. Another team came with the idea to encourage good behavior by means of gamification and link it to a kind of sports challenge for the whole family.
